History

Chattanooga Funeral Home was established as National Funeral Home in 1933, with the 1st location in the 500 block of McCallie Avenue in downtown Chattanooga. The chapel moved to the 1800 block of McCallie Avenue in 1939. The name changed to Chattanooga Funeral Home in 1962.

Chattanooga Funeral Home grows

The funeral home expanded in 1969 to include the North Chapel in Hixson. The East Chapel in East Ridge was established in 1978. In 1991, Chattanooga Funeral Home acquired the Valley View Chapel on Old Lee Highway in Chattanooga. The funeral home became affiliated with Chattanooga Memorial Park in 1994. It then became affiliated with Hamilton Memorial Gardens, which is where the North Chapel is located—in 1998. Currently, Chattanooga Memorial Park serves about 250 families annually, and Hamilton Memorial Gardens serves approximately 600 families each year.

The most recent expansion took place in 2006, when Chattanooga Funeral Home opened the East Brainerd Chapel on East Brainerd Road in Chattanooga. Today, Chattanooga Funeral Home operates 4 chapels: North Chapel, East Chapel, Valley View Chapel and East Brainerd Chapel.

In 1970, Chattanooga Funeral Home joined the Dignity Memorial® network, the largest network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers in North America.

Operated by a single family since 1974

Gene Pike became president of Chattanooga Funeral Home in 1974. His son, Stephen Pike, joined the firm in 1989. The Pike family remains dedicated to the funeral home business and the families it serves, and they are proud to employ experienced funeral directors and other team members who are deeply connected to the community.
